As a component of the Centers and Institutes Office, the IUP Applied Research Lab (ARL) provides technical assistance to faculty, staff, students, administrators, and those of the general public engaged in research. This assistance may include any or all of the following:

bullet Hypothesis formulation
bullet Instrument design
bullet Data collection
bullet Data organization
bullet Data analysis
bulletGraphical presentation of data
bullet Interpretation of statistics results
bullet Classroom presentations on quantitative research and the use of SPSS
bulletWeb-based and handheld data collection using Student Voice

Individuals seeking assistance from the ARL need not be familiar with statistical or computer procedures. An ARL consultant will be assigned to each project and will provide assistance until the project is completed. Individuals requiring help are responsible for entering their own data and a certain degree of involvement in the data analysis. All analysis will be conducted with the assistance of the project consultant.

To avoid potential difficulties caused by inappropriate survey methods and questionnaire construction, the ARL strongly suggests the client contact us at the earliest stage of their research.  By contacting the ARL early, the ARL consultant will have a better understanding of the project and can help to refine the research design, minimizing any problems that may occur.
